We have other MYSA products around the house - two thermostats that control in-wall heaters. We've loved how we can schedule and control them on our phones with ease. It seemed natural to get this one to control the mini split. We had a Honeywell connected that you could turn on/off the minisplit through an app, but that's about it. So that wasn't the best solution either. We could have the mitsu cloud device installed but that was going to be $500+ with equipment + install costs. Now, there isn't a lot of information on how it really works yet since it's new. The short summary is the device is a remote control replacement with internet connectivity through an app. Almost like a smart home light switch. The Mysa device has to be able to see the "unit" (like tv remote) for it to work. We tried it from the other room with a wall half in the way and that didn't work. We settled on a place that was far enough that the temperature reading would be closer to what we actually want throughout the area (rather than the temp just below the unit). And it works great. The unit turns on as scheduled just before we get up in the morning so it's not frigid -and in fact, seems to work better at heating more areas than the unit previously did. We never really used the mitsu remote, just the honeywell one.It took about 10-15 minutes to set up - most of it was trying to find out what the heck we needed to do as the instructions on paper aren't exactly as elaborate as I personally would prefer. So far the company's products have really impressed me - as far as smart home type things go- so I really have no complaints! I have not used it with Alexa / Apple HomeKit , but I don't really use that stuff. Since the rest of the expected functionality works as expected, I would imagine integration into those would work just fine too .
